A. Regional Policy Dialogue

A Regional Policy Dialogue will be organized in Hong Kong on December 15, 2002 to review the strategic framework for air quality management in Asia being developed by Air Pollution in Mega Cities of Asia (APMA) Project in coordination with Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia). Participation in the regional policy dialogue is on an invitation basis only. B. CATNet-Asia Meeting

Work Group Meetings of Clean Air Training Network for Asia (CATNet-Asia) will be held on December 14, 15, and 18 in Hong Kong. The Business Plan and Charter currently being drafted, will be presented during these meetings. Other matters to be discussed include the training course workplan and schedule of courses. Although these meetings are by invitation only, a limited number of observers can be accommodated. Please contact Glynda Bathan for more information.

CATNet-Asia is a network of professionals in air quality training and education. Established in May 2002, CATNet-Asia aims to improve air quality in Asia by delivering a comprehensive, regional training program based on collaboration, commitment, and sustainability. CATNet was formed as a result of discussions during the stakeholder workshop organized by US EPA, US-AEP, and CAI-Asia held in Manila last 28-31 May 2002. More information on CATNet-Asia is available at the CAI-Asia web site. For details, contact Glynda Bathan (gbathan@adb.org) or Roland Haas (roland.haas@gtz.de)

C. Partnership on Clean Fuels and Vehicles

The meeting on 18 November, 13.30 - 17.00 pm, will discuss next steps in the implementation in Asia of the Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles that was launched at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in August 2002 by UN-DESA, UNEP, US-EPA and the International Fuel Quality Center. The meeting will review the roles that different organizations, including CAI-Asia, can play in facilitating the Partnership in Asia.
